Auction house Scribner claims to be selling the world's oldest Plymouth. Their site provides no details other than that it is a 1928 Plymouth Model Q with serial number GP028L.

Limbaugh rips new Chevy Volt
A lot of publications are reporting that Rush Limbaugh was highly critical of the new Chevrolet Volt. As a public service, Allpar is presenting Mr. Limbaugh's comments:

Millionth vehicle rolls off Belvidere line

Hybrid Ram a reality
Dodge's Ram blog announced that the U.S. Dept. of Energy has ordered a test fleet of 140 Ram 1500 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) to be produced in the United States. They will be Hemi-powered as with the Durango, using the two-mode hybrid transmission. Electrovaya has provided a 12 kilowatt-hour high energy density Lithium Ion SuperPolymer® battery system. The new Ram should be able to drive 20 miles on pure electric power.

Chrysler brands snag three of top ten women’s choices
Women-Drivers.com has released its semi-annual 2010 report showing the top automotive brands and Chrysler had more brands in the top ten than any other manufacturer.
Mercedes-Benz took the overall top spot, but Jeep was close behind in second place, ahead of both Lexus and BMW. Chrysler came in fifth, besting Acura, Honda and Buick. Dodge was ninth and Nissan rounded out the top ten.

WPC Museum raises more than $1 million with gala event
Saturday's sold-out Legacy Gala brought the Walter P. Chrysler Museum's fundraising efforts to more than $1 million to date. The Gala celebrated 85 years of Chrysler heritage and kicked off the Walter P. Chrysler Legacy Campaign, a multi-year, multi-million initiative designed to ensure the Museum’s long-term viability.

Arbitration ends, dealer challenges continue
The federally mandated arbitration process for dealers terminated by Chrysler Group during its bankruptcy has ended with the automaker prevailing in the majority of hearings. Of 108 decisions, the arbitrator sided with Chrysler in 76. The remaining dealers, along with about 50 other dealers were or will be offered letters of intent. Chrysler spokesman Mike Palese said most of the 29 dealers who have accepted the terms are already back in business.

NASCAR Dodge recap: Busch, Allgaier & Keselowski have top-ten finishes
Kurt Busch drove the No. 2 Miller Lite/Vortex Dodge Charger to a tenth-place finish at the Brickyard 400, run at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indianapolis. Busch remains fifth in the standings in the Race for the Sprint Cup Challenge.
Brad Keselowski in the No. 12 Penske Dodge finished 19th. Busch and Keselowski were the only Dodge drivers to complete the entire 160 laps.
Sam Hornish Jr. drove 157 laps in the No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge.

Another Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals is in the books and once again Mopar celebrating a fantastic event at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colo.
The 31st Annual Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals kicked off with the Mopar Big Block Event in Golden, Colo. on Thursday night, July 22. Chrysler to drop CATIA for NX
Chrysler has officially announced that it will be moving to Siemens NX software to develop future vehicles, starting with those which have already been created on NX: the Fiat 500 (both gas and electric), the 1.4-liter engine, and the new Chrysler C segment cars. According to the release:

North Florida Mopars schedule first annual car show
The North Florida Mopars of Allpar are putting on their first annual car show. The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 31st at Tallahassee Dodge Chrysler Jeep. All members are encouraged to attend.
Registration is at 9:00 AM. The show is open to all cars, trucks and motorcycles, but the focus will be on Mopar. There will be trophies for Mopar-only categories.

Marchionne sees Chrysler IPO in 2011
Speaking at the Walter P. Chrysler Museum last night, Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne said he doesn't see an initial public offering of stock in Chrysler Group before next year.
Marchionne said he wants a full year of financial results for considering a stock offering. He also wants to gauge market reaction to the General Motors' IPO expected later this year. A public stock offering will allow the government and the United Auto Workers' retiree health trust to reduce their equity holdings in the two automakers.

2011 Dodge Magnum – Durango spy shot
Autoblog found this Twitter photo, apparently taken from inside a Chrysler facility, of the upcoming Dodge Durango replacement, possibly to be named Dodge Magnum. The seven-passenger utility vehicle is known to be moving from its modified Dodge Dakota origins to the engineered-for-the-purpose Grand Cherokee chassis, lengthened, restyled, and stripped of some off-road features.

GM to acquire AmeriCredit
General Motors this morning announced it will acquire Fort Worth, Texas-based AmeriCredit Corp in an all-cash transaction valued at $3.9 billion. The deal is expected to become final in the fourth quarter of this year.
GM plans to make AmeriCredit the core of a new captive finance operation. GM has been using AmeriCredit instead of Ally (formerly GMAC) for sub-prime lending. In the announcement, Chris Liddell, GM's CFO, indicated the automaker would still be using Ally for prime lending and dealer floorplans. AmeriCredit has some 800,000 customers and $9 billion in automotive receivables.... Read more..
