MyTrips - allow members to create entries for each Jamboree
So how about a new content type that allows members to add a separate entry for each Jamboree they've been on... kinda like a blog/journal for Jamborees... and have them all linked to the Member profile page (or its own searchable/sortable page like MyRides are currently, but called MyTrips instead):
- Jamboree name (drop-down list)
- Jamboree year (drop-down list)
- Jamboree location (city,state; perhaps drop-down list)
- trip start/end dates (drop-down list... highlight future trips)
- trail name (fill-in text field)
- trail rating (perhaps a drop-down list)
- group name (e.g., red, blue, etc)
- group members (drop-down multi-select member list + free-form field)
- link to MyRides (to show which of your Jeeps you drove)
- link to MyVideos (to show videos of trails you drove)
- photos (embedded media field)
- trip notes (your recap, trail story, etc)
high/low ranges (re: jeeppunk91)

I thought about this idea a few days ago............would it be infringing on anyone's privacy to list all the people that have signed up for each JJ trip so that we could all communicate back and forth before the trip. Just a thought.
Overall not a bad idea-- to have each trips' participants for '08 noted on Interact for group communications/camaraderie-- but I think you're right about the privacy thing. However, another way for us to do it might be to include an explicit Interact notification (e.g., "Sign up and connect with other participants!" kind of thing) with each trip registration. That way, all participants would be encouraged to signup, but signup would still remain a voluntary opt-in. What do you think?
Sounds like you have the right idea...............I'd just like to be able to communicate with some of the jeepers that are attending the same trip as I am and possibly with some that have attended them before. Palo Duro will be my first JJ ever and although I like to consider myself somewhat spontaneous I would like to talk to some veterans to find out what little supplies / techniques / etc. will make the trip more enjoyable.

Members, we've put this into action for you-- check out http://theunpaved.com/jjusa/forum/mytrips-new-content-type-member-trips for an overview and start adding your past or future trips today.
F-16_MECH, how'd Palo Duro go? Feel free to create a MyTrip for your recent trip so we can check it out!
BTW, be sure to drop us more feedback at the link above, too, so we can continue to improve MyTrips for you.
An idea for additional comments.... to have a "high point" / "low point" section. To let future JJ attendies know what was great and maybe what to look out for in upcoming events. Not to shine any negative lights on the Jamborees, but it could be helpful to all.
I would sign up to meet and "connect" with other Jeepers at Jamborees. I haven't been to one yet (can't wait for Snowshoe) but it would be reassuring to know that when I do, I could have a network of other offroaders to meet up with.
vroom vroom....

I like it and now added above; might also go towards improving future Jamborees as well by highlighting what to keep and/or what to change.

add a best and worst part of the trip. not so much of a "complaint" department, but a highlight of the best part of the jamboree and maybe what could be better or what other Jeepers could look out for.
